Note: This gorgeous agate bead, with its barrel shape, exhibits a multitude of vibrant colors and beautiful layered bandings. Most striking is the natural eye formation which appears in the center.  The piece shows sings of surface wear. In addition to an oily sheen, from we suspect are surface digs, or cuts on the surface of the bead for use in medicinal purposes and/or offering.  It is said that these shavings harnessed the power of the bead which would, in turn, enhance the potency of medicines or rituals that they were placed in.  Having said that, it is important to note that these marks are not defects.  There are signs of minor end wear (wear around the openings).
